🌿 What's Blooming This Week

Growing Flowers. Growing Community.

This week feels like the garden is finally beginning to tell its story.

The biggest surprise? The sunflowers.

They're not nearly as tall as they were last year, and I honestly wasn't expecting them to be the first flowers to bloom. But gardens have a way of keeping you humble and reminding you they're in charge of the timeline.

Among the first to open are my Strawberry Blonde sunflowers, and they are absolute perfection. Their soft peach, buttery yellow, and rosy petals catch the morning light in a way that's almost impossible to describe. They've quickly become one of my favorite flowers in the garden this season.

Another milestone this week was my very first zinnia. It may only be one bloom, but after months of seed starting, watering, weeding, and waiting, that first flower feels like a celebration. It's a reminder that every cutting garden begins one bloom at a time.

The vegetable garden is joining the celebration, too. This week I harvested my first green beans and eggplants of the season. There is something deeply satisfying about carrying both flowers and vegetables into the house after spending the evening in the garden. It's one of those simple joys that never gets old.

This week reminded me that gardening rarely follows the plan I imagined back in January.

The tallest flowers weren't the first to bloom.

The garden didn't grow exactly the way I sketched it on paper since I kept adding more tomatoes.

I'm learning to celebrate what's blooming today instead of worrying about what hasn't bloomed yet.

Maybe that's a lesson that reaches far beyond the garden.
